Today has been a quiet day. I slept in, watched some TV. My daughter has
a birthday party to attend tonight for a friends son who is going into
5th grade. She was unsure of what to get a boy this age and asked me to
go with her to pick out a gift. I thought of my own son and how at that
age he loved model cars, planes and rockets. After visiting the craft store
my daughter was not sure that Jonathon's mother would appreciate us
"gifting" a rocket to her son. We decided to go to Target and give that
a whirl. Children today do not "play" like they did when I grew up or even
when my children grew up. Computers, cell phones and video games have
taken over. We searched and searched and ended up with a really cool
"spy kit". It has a passport and plastic ID cards, it does require the computer
but like I said it was cool. We then added two cans of silly string so that
Ava, his little sister and Jonathan can drive their mom crazy. We then
picked the card game, "Blink" so the whole family can enjoy. They are
a wonderful family and game night is part of their life. We hope he enjoys
it.
I truly miss the days when my children were that young. They pass so
quickly. I know that mother's and father's these days are so busy with
work, home and kids but don't wish a single day away. I remember saying
"I can't wait till, they sleep through the night or they walk or they talk
or their in school. They are now 29 and almost 28 and I would give
a million dollars to have one of those days back.....
Enjoy your family and have a good night...
